Mine

“Liam?” Charlie and I both asked in sync as we moved away from each other.

I heard the man around the corner shifting his weight from side to side, “Yea, Liam.” He said impatiently, “He got ahold of us when he left the hospital and asked what we were doing about the situation, we told him we wanted eyes inside, and he offered.”

My gaze slowly went from Charlie, to the ground, as my thoughts drifted to Liam at Anna’s side, “He’s going to get himself killed.” I whispered with concern.

“This isn’t his first undercover mission, he knows what he’s doing,” Charlie reassured me, “It’s just, a little more complicated now.”

“A little?” I said with a raised brow as my eyes snapped back up at him.

“I’ll get the details, just, try to get some rest.” He told me with a small nod.

“You think I can sleep?” I asked with a sarcastic laugh.

Charlie sighed, “Then go for a walk, you have miles of beach to wander on, just, don’t talk to strangers.”

I blinked at him, “Are you fucking kidding me?” I mumbled.

“Jesus, Kate, I just mean-”

“I know what you mean, idiot, it goes without saying. You catch that? WITHOUT. Saying.” I said with a light laugh. “I’m going to get cleaned up first.”

Charlie tried to cover up his smirk with a scratch on his jaw, “Alright, well, the bathroom is down the hall, I’ll be on the patio if you need me.” He said before he walked out of the bedroom, closing the door.

“God.” I whispered with a small smirk as I sat at the end of the bed. What was Liam thinking teaming up with Anna? Was he eventually going to do something that would get himself killed? No, he has a son. Does Anna actually trust him? She did almost kill his brother, after all. Is Liam planning on ditching the original plan and killing Anna himself? What then?  I thought to myself as I stared at the wall. “I need to see him.” I whispered with a nod.

During my relaxing hot shower, I tried to come up with a non-crazy way to bring up my plan to Charlie. There was obviously no way in hell he was going to let me go to that camp and talk to Liam, but he also doesn’t control me, and he knows that. After twenty minutes of gentle scrubbing and lathering I stepped out of the shower and took a long look at myself in the mirror.

I looked…tired. I had dark circles under my eyes and my entire body felt like it had taken a beating, which, I suppose it had. I had some cuts and bruises here and there but what really caught my attention was my sewn up bullet wound just under my left collarbone. The stitching was clean enough so I wouldn’t have an ugly scar but it did leave me with an ugly memory. The exit wound on my back was a little less tender than my chest; All of it would just have to take time to heal I suppose. Putting my wet hair in a French braid was a task since I had to keep taking breaks to rest my upper body, but once I was finished, I was proud of the Lara Croft resemblance.

In my bedroom I found a clean pair of black cargo pants and a black tank top to match. I carefully dressed myself and found the nerve to walk outside and talk to Charlie.

“You want to what?” He said with a furrowed brow.

“I want to go back to the camp and talk to Liam.” I shrugged.

“No. Fuck no. Why would you even- no.” He said, shaking his head.

“Charlie, listen, I’m going to do this whether you agree to it or not so save us some time and just accept that! Alright?” I argued.

“Kate-”

“I need to talk to him, Charlie. I could help him! Get some more intel, feel like I’m actually doing something around here!”

“You are doing something, you’re resting!” He argued back.

“Uh, boss.” One of the tech nerds spoke up, “We could hook her up with an ear piece so we can hear what’s going on, and, I don’t know, find out what info Liam has gathered without being too obvious.” He suggested.

“You think Kate walking onto that property with a huge ass target on her head won’t be too obvious, David?” Charlie snapped.

“Well, security is pretty tight now at the gate so there’s really only one safe way to get her in…” David mumbled.

“And how’s that?” Charlie asked, folding his arms over his chest.

“The sewer.” David shrugged.

I frowned, “Oh god.” I whispered.

“Good. See, it was a ridiculous idea! Now, moving on.”

I sighed, “I’ll do it.

Crawling through the tunnel full of waste was a Shawshank moment I never wanted to experience. I was able to distract myself with thoughts of running into Anna and slowly torturing her until she was lying dead at my feet. I have to say, it really did help.

The second I was free from that literal hell hole I keeled over and let everything come up that I was holding in for a quarter mile. I couldn’t remember the last time I got sick but I sure as fuck wouldn’t forget this time. I stripped off my filth covered clothes and grabbed the plastic bag that was strapped to my ankle and pulled out a pair of clean short, tank top, bra, panties, socks, tennis shoes, first aid kit, and mouthwash.

“I can’t do that again.” I told the team as I got dressed, “Please find another way to get me the hell out of here because that was not fun.”

I told you.” Charlie mumbled in my ear.

“Don’t be like that.” I whispered back as I crouched down and reached for the first aid kit.

“I’m just saying-” Charlie started but I didn’t hear the rest. I felt the blow before I saw where it came from.

It felt like a knee straight to my temple, throwing me off my feet and onto my back. I hit hard, gasping for air as my lungs recuperated from the fall. I felt rain drops starting to fall on my face, making it even harder to see my attacker when I could barely see one hand in front of me. I tried to stand but there was a firm hand on my right ankle, using little force as he lifted my leg and pulled me through the mud and twigs.

“Hey!” I yelled as I grabbed a decent size branch and used everything I had to swing it in front of me at the arm that was holding my ankle. The hit was strong enough to make him lose his grip and drop my foot, but he was quick, leaning down to grab me by the throat seconds later with a grunt. I couldn’t see a damn thing, the blow to my head had me seeing spots and the rain stung my face as the wild wind carried it every which way.

He picked me up and slammed my back into a tree as his grip became tighter around my throat. It felt like we were face to face, challenging each other to make another move, and I had to take control of the situation before I passed out and woke up in a bad place. I reached up and used my fingers to pull his thumb away from my throat, loosening his grip enough for me to get my breath back. I felt his free hand raising from his side so I reached down and grabbed his forearm for stabilization as I pressed my foot into his thigh, lifting myself above him, my neck completely out of his reach now. With all the momentum I had, I jumped off his leg and dropped my elbow into his trap as I fell into him, crashing both of us onto the cold ground.

I took the advantage of lying on top of him to sit up and hit him square in the face, twice, before he rolled over and crushed me with his lower body. I tried to roll us again but I was too weak. I desperately grabbed at his legs that were squeezing my sides, finding what felt like a flashlight attached to his belt loop. I ripped it off and turned it on with shaky hands; shining it in his bright blue eyes.

“Shit.” I whispered, recognizing that beautiful face. He ripped the flashlight out of my hand and hit me in the jaw before I could say another word.

“God damn it!” I growled at the throbbing pain my jaw was in, “Liam stop! It’s me! It’s Kate!”

I felt his body soften at my words, “Kate.” He whispered loudly before he shined the light in my eyes, “Jesus Christ. I thought you were dead.” He said in disbelief.

I moved the light away from my eyes and looked up at him, “Why would I be dead?” I whispered with a frown. He still had his untouchable god like features, just tainted with a hint of destruction and mud now.

“Where did you come from?” He asked, ignoring my question.

“The sewer. Liam, why would I be dead?” I asked again, sitting up on my elbows.

“Why are you here?” He asked, his gaze becoming less soft.

“Liam…” I whispered.

“Kate.” He snapped. “Why are you here?” He growled.

“I needed to see you. Talk to you.” I answered. Lightening and thunder cracked close by, but neither of us showed concern.

“You’re going to blow this entire mission, go home.” He ordered as he got to his feet.

“Liam, I am not leaving. I need to know what is going on.” I said, slowly standing up.

“Kate, I am not kidding.” He warned.

“I just crawled through a quarter mile of shit to get to you!” I growled, “I am not going to turn around and leave without answers!”

I watched his chest rise and fall as he sighed, “God damn it, Kate.”  He whispered, finally resting his eyes on mine.

My stomach still did flips when he looked at me, “I just need-”

He raised his hand, signaling me to stop talking. He was walking towards me now. One foot in front of the other, his eyes never leaving mine. We were toe to toe when he slowly reached up and grabbed my jaw to turn my head to the left.

“She’s mine now.” He growled in my ear to Charlie and the others. His words weakened my knees and raised my heart rate. I missed him this close to me. He carefully dug the ear piece out of its hiding place and crushed it between his fingers as he released my sore jaw from his grip. “Lets go.” He said, walking passed me.

I followed him, not asking anymore questions. He took me to the temple deep in the woods where we practiced meditation every morning. “The security system is down due to the storms we’ve been having so no one will know you’re staying here tonight.” Liam said as he unlocked the door and lead me inside. “There’s a shower in the back, you should go get cleaned up before your wounds get infected. I’ll find you some clean clothes.”

“Thanks.” I said softly as I took off my muddy shoes and walked to the showers.

There were eight showerheads lined up on the wall to my right, each one divided by half walls for semi-privacy. To my left there were two doors, one of them glass and one wooden. I assumed the glass door lead to the steam room and the wooden door lead to the sauna, but I didn’t care enough to look around, all I wanted was to get washed up. I turned on a couple little gas lanterns so I could see what I was doing before I stripped off my muddy clothes and stepped into the shower.

“Good call on the lanterns.” Liam said as he walked through the door, two towels in one hand and clothes in the other.

“They’re easy to dim, I didn’t want to give off too much light in case someone was out here patrolling.” I said as I watched him get closer to me.

He set the towels and clothes down on a bench closest to me and pulled his shirt over his head, “No one would be stupid enough to come out in this weather.”

The soft light bounced off his firm chest and core, guiding my eyes up and down his half naked body. He looked stronger than before, broader, more defined. I had to remind myself that it had been only a few days since I saw him last and that my mind was merely playing tricks. “What were you doing out there?” I asked, trying to distract myself as I heard his pants drop to the floor.

“Patrolling.” He said, looking over at me. He started the shower next to me and let the water run down his neck and back before he spoke again, “You shouldn’t be here, Kate.”

“Neither should you.” I argued as I concentrated on washing my hair.

I felt his eyes on me, watching me, waiting.

Once I met his gaze I couldn’t look away. He locked me in and I was willing to stand there lost in his blue eyes until the water ran cold.

Seconds later, music started playing over the intercom, breaking our eye contact as we looked around in wonder.

“Turn off your shower.” Liam ordered as he shut off his and threw me a towel.

I quickly did as he asked and wrapped myself in the soft warm towel, “What’s going on?” I whispered, walking over to him.

“Someone’s here.” He whispered back.

Laughing started to come from the meditation room and it sounded like they were headed our way.

“Come on.” Liam whispered to me, grabbing my hand. He pulled me into the steam room and shut the door.

“Who is that?” I asked, “Was that Anna?”

“No, it sounded like a couple of the trainee’s.” Liam whispered as he peeked through the glass door.

“Would it be bad if they saw us?” I asked, thinking we could just walk out.

“Word would get around that I was in here with another woman and… it just wouldn’t be good.” He explained, leaning against the wall.

Another woman?” I asked with a frown, “Wait a minute, are you two…” I stopped talking, not sure if I wanted to know the answer.

Suddenly the steam started to get to me, “I need to get out of here.” I whispered, reaching for the door.

“Kate! No!” He whispered back as two shadows appeared in the doorway. Liam grabbed my hand and pulled me up three levels to the very top, “This is the darkest corner in the room, they wont see or hear us with the steam and music going.” He said as he pushed me into the corner and stood directly in front of me.

We heard them come in, a man and a woman, laughing between kisses. It was nervous laughter, the kind you have when you’ve had too many glasses of wine and sleep with someone on the first date. Then it hit me.

“I cannot sit here and listen to them have sex, Liam!” I whispered, looking up at him.

“Then distract yourself.” He demanded.

I bit my bottom lip as the thought came crawling back to me, “What kind of relationship do you have with Anna?” I asked nervously.

He looked down at me with a raised brow, “You know the saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer?” He asked with a smirk.

He was beautiful even when he was delivering bad news, “You’re an ass.” I mumbled.

He chuckled softly.

“I thought she liked women!?” I snapped.

“Is that jealousy I hear?” He asked in a deep, smooth, voice.

I looked away, “Its annoyance.” I whispered, rolling my eyes.

A loud bang had me jump in place and look around Liam to see what was going on.

“Training exercise, get moving!” Charlie ordered from the steam room doorway. I heard the couple scramble around to get dressed as I pushed passed Liam and walked down the steps.

“Charlie?” I asked, tightening my towel around my naked body, “What are you doing here?”

The second Charlie set eyes on me I saw his entire body relax, “You’re okay.” He whispered.

“Of course I’m okay, what the hell are you doing here?” I asked, smelling the sewer as I got closer to him.

“I was concerned.” Charlie said with a defensive tone, taking one step towards me.

“Charlie? Concerned? I’ve never seen that shade on you, brother. It looks adorable.” Liam teased as he walked out of the steam room.

“I should have killed you when I had the chance.” Charlie growled. I could see the anger bubbling up inside of him the longer he glared at Liam.

“Okay! Let’s get you into the shower!” I said, breaking the tension as I grabbed Charlie’s hand and pulled him towards a showerhead.

“I have three men upstairs that smell just as bad as I do, be a doll and tell them to come get cleaned up?” Charlie asked, “But uh, put on some clothes first.” He whispered.

“Sure.” I nodded. I noticed a slight shake in his hands as he started to unbutton his filth covered shirt and I couldn’t help but wonder if it was from the anger or something else.

Once the guys were clean and dressed, they all gathered upstairs to talk to Liam while I stayed downstairs and looked for food.

“There’s a pantry under the stairs.” Charlie said as he stood by the front door, messing with the dead alarm. “I’m not sure what you’re going to find in there, though. I wasn’t the one who stocked it.”

“Thanks.” I said under my breath as I walked over to the pantry.

He turned and looked at me with a raised brow, “You alright, Red?” He asked.

“Yea, I just, have a lot on my mind is all…” I said, opening the door and searching for the light switch.

Charlie slowly made his way over to me, eyeing me, like a jungle cat with his prey. A damp towel was thrown over his bare shoulders and his sweatpants hung low on his hips. His chest was covered in trimmed hair that looked rough and scratchy but I knew it was soft to the touch, “Care to share?” He asked.

“It’s about Anna.” I whispered, trailing my eyes up his groin and abs as he made his way to me.

“What about her?” He asked, glancing at the stairs.

I finally rested my eyes on his once we were toe to toe, “She said she killed John.” I whispered, “And you were trying to frame her for it already…”

Charlie hushed me as he reached out and grabbed me by the hip, taking a step forward as he guided me backwards into the dark pantry, “What about it?” He asked, turning on the flashlight he pulled out of his pocket and setting it on a shelf before closing the door.

I leaned against the shelf with all the canned goods and stared at the ground, “I just don’t know what to believe, Charlie.”

“Look at me.” He whispered, lifting my chin up with his index finger so he could look me in the eyes, “What does your gut tell you?”

I stared up at him, not sure what I felt. Everything was so difficult to handle and having his lips inches from mine was incredibly distracting.

“What are you thinking?” He whispered softly, running his thumb along my jawline until his hand rested on the nape of my neck.

We were leaning into each other now, both eagerly anticipating what was going to come next as I brought my lips up to his, “I don’t think she did it.” I whispered at the last second.

I felt him hesitate, debating if he should continue or pull away. His lips parted as if he was going to say something, but all he did was step back and sigh.

I swallowed, “It seems too easy. Think about it.”

“I don’t want to think about it, Kate! We got her! We have the chance to clear your name! Why question it?!” He asked, looking down at me with worry, “I am begging you, let it go.” He whispered.

“What aren’t you telling me, Charlie?” I asked, blinking up at him.

He raised a brow, “Excuse me?”

“You were a detective! If there was a hint of suspicion in the air you would sniff it out, but this you’re begging me to drop. Why?”

He hesitated again, taking his hand from my neck to run it through his thick dark hair as he let out a breath, “Liam isn’t here because of Finn.” He started, “He found out a few days ago that Anna was responsible for Abigale’s murder.”

I blinked, “His wife? Anna killed his wife?” I whispered.

Charlie nodded, “Yes.”

“Why?!” I asked in awe.

“We don’t know. He’s here to figure it out and I’m keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn’t kill her.”

I was shocked, “Why do you care if he kills her? You’re going to let her take the fall for John’s murder anyway so why does it matter?” I asked with a head tilt.

“That’s exactly why it matters, Kate. If Anna is dead, I can’t clear your name. She is the only chance of you getting out of this clean.” He argued.

“So, you’re doing all of this for me?” I whispered, looking up at him in surprise.

“Yea, well, you’re too opinionated to go to jail, you’d get killed the first week you were there, so.” He whispered, looking down at me with a sly grin.

“Good point.” I played along, grinning back.

“Alright, well, I need to go sweep the perimeter before the rain picks up again.” He said as he opened the pantry door, “Be sure to keep your mouth shut about what we just discussed, yea?”

I rolled my eyes, “You know, you really should learn how to talk to people if you’re going to be in business with, like, people.” I whispered, following him out.

“I know how to talk to people, Kate.” He whispered back as he grabbed a black t-shirt that was folded on the stairs and pulled it over his head.

“You know how to demand things from people, not have a casual conversation.” I argued, a little disappointed at the sudden change of scenery.

“Yea?” He grinned, “If memory serves me right, you like it when I order you around.”

Smooth, I thought. Ignoring the heat that had just taken over my body, “Uh, no, you’re thinking of you. You like it when you order me around.” I joked, tossing him his jacket.

“So I like to be in control,” He shrugged, “Is that so bad?”

Yes!” I laughed, “It is so very bad!”

He dropped his jacket, “So you’re telling me,” He began, walking towards me with that same look in his eyes as if he was about to pounce, “If I took you back in that pantry, slammed you up against that shelf, and forced my tongue into that gorgeous mouth, you wouldn’t listen to what I had to say next?” He asked with a raised brow.

“I…” I was scrambling for words.

He was behind me now; his breath brushing against my right ear as he spoke, “What if I stopped talking and just took what I wanted?” He whispered, slowly running his hand across my stomach as he pressed his chest into my back, “Would you stop me if I ripped off your shirt and used it to tie your hands above your head?”

I started to pant as I let his words and hands take over.

His fingertips guided my arms up and around his head as he spoke, “What if I trailed kisses down your neck?” He whispered, running his index finger down my neck and between my breasts, “and here?” He continued, running his finger down my stomach until he stopped at my waistband. “What if I rested here for a while? Teasing you with my lips before I pulled your shorts down with my teeth?”

His groin was pressing into me now; blatantly letting me know he was as hard as a rock. “Would you stop me if I swung your legs over my shoulders and spread your lips with my tongue? Devouring every drop of cum you had to offer before I moved up to your swollen clit.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, surrendering myself to him completely as he slipped his hand beneath my waistband and began rubbing me over the fabric of my underwear. “Would you beg for more when I lick, and suck, at your clit until you’re just about to cum and I pull away?” He asked between breaths.

I felt him guide us backwards into the shadow of the pantry, neither one of us bothering to shut the door as he pinned me against the sturdiest shelf and yanked down my shorts. “Mmm.” He moaned as he turned me around so we were face to face, “Go ahead. Beg me to stop” He growled before he slammed his lips into mine.

I forgot how good he tasted, how good he felt. His hands were at my wrists, guiding them up over my head as our tongues intertwined. I faced my palms towards the wooden shelves and got a good hold as he grabbed my bare ass and lifted me up off the ground with ease. Expertly, he rested my ass on his forearm as he used his free hand to guide the tip of his cock into my throbbing, wet slit.

He made sure to torture me; Slowly guiding me down his thick shaft as we both gasped for air. The mere size of him was hard to adjust to as he stretched every inch of me but the second he filled me I wanted to feel it all over again.

“Christ, Kate.” He moaned into my mouth as he gripped me tighter; Holding me still as he slipped in and out of me, each thrust harder than the last.

The more he slammed into me the closer I was to my orgasm; I had absolutely no control over my body. I could feel, hear, practically taste how wet I was and it had me shaking. He had me shaking, trembling, convulsing, fucking losing my mind as he slammed into me over and over again. His nails dug into my ass as he picked up the pace, thrusting harder and faster as he bit and moaned into my neck.

I had to reach down with one hand and steady myself on his shoulder as he rammed me into the shelves. As if fucking one another wasn’t enough, we had to dig, and bite, and curse under our breath to release all the sexual tension we had built up for one another. I tasted blood as our lips went on a collision course, not sure if it was mine or his, but it didn’t matter. It seemed we couldn’t kiss hard enough or fuck fast enough to satisfy our desire for one another.

That is, until, he moaned. Something as simple as the right man moaning my name completely sends me over the edge. Moaning, gasping, digging, shaking, I did it all as my body was rocked by my intense orgasm. I felt myself pulse and spasm around his hard cock, making us both slow down and actually feel every twitch as I covered him with my cum.

“That’s my girl.” He whispered against my mouth as he pulled all the way out of me and put me down.

It was hard to stand at first, but once he turned me around to face the shelves I was able to steady myself just before he guided himself back into me, causing both of us to moan in ecstasy.

“Charlie!” I moaned as he slipped in and out of me, thrusting deeper with every noise I made.

His grip became tighter on my hips as he moved faster and faster, building up to his orgasm that had him pull out at the last minute to cum all over my lower back with a growl.

“Holy shit.” He whispered between breaths.

“I know.” I whispered back, absolutely exhausted.

I felt him wipe me clean with his shirt before he slowly pulled me up right to face him.

“You alright?” He whispered down at me as he ran a hand through my hair.

“I’m perfect.” I grinned.

“Good.” He grinned back.

“Hey Charlie!” Yelled one of the guys from upstairs.

Charlie poked his head out of the pantry, “Yea?” He yelled back.

“I think we got something, get up here!”

He sighed and turned to look at me, “Back to work.”

“You might want to put these on, first.” I whispered as I threw him his pants.

He walked up to me and gave me a soft intimate kiss on the lips, “Get cleaned up and join us up there.” He ordered.

“Yes sir.” I whispered with a wink.

“Oh and just so you know,” He said, looking down at me with a serious gaze, “If I ever hear Liam claim you as his again, I will kill him.”

I raised both of my brows in surprise, “Okay.” I whispered, not sure what else to say.

As I watched him walk away, I realized, that was the reason Charlie came here tonight. He took Liam’s “She’s mine now” message seriously, and he crawled through a quarter mile of shit to prove him wrong.

“Jesus Christ.” I laughed, “My folks would love him.”
